Faculty of Conservation and Restaoration - Cracow
The Faculty of Monument Conservation was created in 1950 in response to the interest in conservation of works of art that had been present among Kraków artists for several generations. For a long time it functioned as a kind of two- or three-year specialistic course that could be taken after completing the first years of general artistic training (painting and sculpture), and then, until 1972, as a separate unit teaching conservators at university level.

Marine Archaeological Conservation - Finland
The course is being funded by the Finnish government to promote the conservation of the many well-preserved shipwrecks found in the Baltic Sea, such as the recent discovery of the 1771 Vrouw Maria wreck off the Finnish coast. The training program will prepare conservators for the challenge of preserving these shipwrecks and artefacts either in-situ or after excavation. The course has been designed to offer a multidisciplinary approach to the study and preservation of underwater shipwrecks with both theoretical and practical training in the area of marine archaeology, the underwater environment, materials analysis, treatment of underwater finds and the in-situ conservation of shipwrecks.
